Recovery file in MS Excell

Hi,

Since service pack 3 in win 2K we cannot open files that are on our server. We get the same error as we would try to save on it with long filenames (longer than 8.3).

We think that behind the scene MS Excell opens a copy of the file and gives it tempory a name that is longer than 8.3 (“copy of blabla.xls”)

I tried to remove sp 3 but, it wasn’t fixed.

Is there a registry key where we can disable this automatic “copy of blabla.xls” thing ?
