Reformatting

How can I reformat a HP COMPUTER AND GET THE HP Splash screen off of the computer.I have windows/me and want to reformat to SE. i WILL Fdisk the harddrive but I don’t want to use the recovery disk from ME. I will be using my own se disk.Will a program like delpart take it out.I would like to get anything that has hp info on it out of the pc.Or is it somehow tattooed on the mother board?
