regarding download

how should i download multiple files from a directory or all file of a particular link from any website.
i want that all files will be downloaded sequentialy from any particular link of any website.
i know ftp is an application when file transfer is consern.
pls, give me a suggestion by which i could download all files sequentially from a particular link.
