I am looking for solutions for registration from the patchcables to the wall outlets.
Only this specific part of the infrastructure is hard to register because the central ICT department has no to little overview when changes occur in the patchrooms.
This is because the central ICT department has different customers that all can work independently with their own “local ICT department”. Some customers take the effort to report changes in their situation but more often changes stay unreported.Because of this, changes in projects can take longer because connections are already in use. (because it wasn’t registered as in use)
Ofcourse this is only one of the problems that occur.
Are there any insights on how to handle with these aspects on registration?
I am thinking of managable hubs or registration through ip numbers / hostnames.
Feedback with examples or case studies appreciated.
