Reinitializing system

I have a Novell 5.1 server with both TCP/IP and IPX traffic. Our main applications that are stored on the server are DOS applications that still need to use IPX. I have added a static IP route to another server and want to reinitialize the server, but I don’t want to interfer with the IPX traffic. I don’t want to have to restart the server, but I will if reinitializing will corrupt the IPX traffic.
