Remote Access/VPN Server

by jasonthresher . Updated 18 years, 9 months ago

Hi Everyone.

I have been having a very frustrating problem I hope someone can help me with.

I have a test server (windows server 2003) running with 2 network cards. The ip address for the one card is 10.18.120.11 and the other is 10.18.120.12

I have been trying to set up remote access. I follow the wizard and the rest of the setup instructions. The problem is that when the RAS service starts, my workstation on the network loses its connection from the server, and stays disconnected.

If I then remove the RAS server role from the Manage your Server wizard, the workstation re establishes the connection as soon as the RAS service is stopped.

I just use a ping servername -t to test the connection from the workstation.

I am using the .11 address as the internal network card and the .12 as the external card. Clients will e validated with DHCP, which is set up and running fine.

I tried this on the live server after hours and had the same problem.

Hopefully this is something small I have over looked.

Any advice would be most helpfull.

Thanks
Jason
