Remote Desktop Connection Issue (Error 0x80090331)

by mk_carter . Updated 13 years, 4 months ago

Hi,
I am on a Windows 2003 Server box. I can remote into other Windows 2003 machines with no issues at all. However when I try to connect to a couple of Windows Server 2008 R2 machines (using Remote Desktop) I get this Windows error code.

0X80090331

I can ping the Windows 2008 R2 Server fine. Also if I go to another Windows 2008 R2 machine I can remote into the other Windows Server 2008 R2 machine just fine. I looked at all the setting on the client (windows 2003 machine) and the Server (Windows 2008 R2 machine) and nothing looks incorrect.

From what research I did this is what I could find:

0x80090331 – Sec_E_Algorithm_Mismatch – The client and the server cannot communicate because they do not possess a common algorithm.

What does this mean? Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
