Remote desktop connection Windows SBS 2003

We are trying to setup a work server so we can access it from home.
We have 1 office PC using 2003 small business server connecting through a at&t dsl modem/router. Home computer running windows vista

At the Client addressing step how do I decided between DHCP or use static IP addressing? What is the difference.
IF DHCP where do i get the IP address from. If using the static IP addressing where do i get the IP’s from.
