OK…
1. I have XP Pro SP2 installed on my Laptop (Client) and my Desktop (Host – behind a home network with Cable Internet using a Dlink DIR-625 Router)
2. I Installed (on the Host) IIS / IIS Remote Desktop addon / Changed the access port.
3. I forwarded the ports 3389 and my changed port # to the host computers IP in my router
4. I have made sure that Windows Firewall has remote desktop allowed and also added my port number as well
5. Enabled remote desktop connection on the Host, Making sure my user account (Has a Password) is added
So with my laptop connected to the internal network using my ISP assigned IP address and my changed port I can remote in no issues what so ever.
BUT – When I try to login connected to the internet elseware with HTTP://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:PORT/tsweb I get the Remote Desktop Login Screen and the following messages;
No Server name – with size full screen – Nothing happens
No Server name – with say 800 x 600 – Box comes up but after 10 secs I get… a VBscript: Remote desktop Disconnected – The client could not connect to the remote computer. Remote connections might not be enabled……
Host name – size full screen – Nothing
Host Name – 800 x 600 – the specified remote computer cannot be found
Host IP (Internal Network) – full size – nothing
Host IP (Internal Network) 800 x 600 – Box comes up but after 10 secs I get… a VBscript: Remote desktop Disconnected – The client could not connect to the remote computer. Remote connections might not be enabled……
At this point I have no idea where to head next.. Obviously I still have something wrong in my router, but I have looked at it several times and have no clue…
