Remotely uninstalling software

by david.carey . Updated 22 years, 6 months ago

Hi, we are currently running a winNT domain with almost 1000 W2K clients. We have problems with users installing games/software that we don’t want. Yes we have permissions set and have a written policy setup. Where our problem is is that we have designated people in different sections that we give the local admin passwords to so that help us with software installings and other things at times. Usually what ends up happening is they give this password to a “buddy” who in turn gives it to others and a whole domino effect happens. We periodically change the password but always some “damage” has been done. This has cut down alot since we have started using aida32 to track software installed on the machine, along with other statistics. What I would like is a program that will let me uninstall programs remotely, almost like bringing up the computer’s add/remove programs and removing it like that. I would like it to be silent if possible. The current method of going to each cpu(s), or calling up the section and asking if the computer is free, so I can SMS remote control it, is too much of a pain. I wouldn’t even mind a command prompt util to use, anything has to be easier. Does anyone know any programs out there that will do something like this? Thanks in advance.

-Dave
