Remove Crapware – completely?

Hello all.

In the thread about Dell stopping supplying Crapware, I read with interest that merely uninstalling it leaves a certain amount of rubbish behind, but I understood from some of the posts that this can be put right. How is it done?

And on this subject I have Norton Internet Security on my new computer (Vista) and cannot uninstall it – uninstaller says “files cannot be found”, but they are there all right!
