Repair local area connection window does not close

I have a slight problem regarding the local area connection window. It does not affect my browsing but the window wont close. It’s bothering my view whenever I open a new window. The usual remedy I do is to restart my computer. A “cancel” selection at the bottom of the window appears but not functioning. How can I repair this?
