Replacing a Window 2000 computer with xp on server 2003 domain

by pfloyd . Updated 18 years, 5 months ago

Greetings

I recently had to replace a computer(win 2k) on a small business network. The problem is that some permissions that were available to the users before are not available now. All users log into the domain. Also in server 2003 active directory when you attempt ‘manage computer’ I get a path not found error but it does show the computer properties. Users are able to read and write except the one application that is accesssed only on the server.

I used an existing XP computer on the domain to replace this one. Rebuilt the hard drive but kept the same name.

Chronologically:
Win 2k Computer A: Dies
XP Computer B: Remove and rebuild OS from scratch and put in A’s place but keeping Computer B as computer name.

Thanks!
