Research into what would be the best software based encryption method?

Hi there!

I’m doing a research into what would be the best software based encryption method for a medium sized company (notebooks and desktops [and eventually servers]).

I’m looking into client only solutions as well as client-server ones (either free of not – though preferably free).

I would need some pro’s and con’s on any solutions you might now regarding the subject.
