Reset custom animation

Question: Using PowerPoint 2003. I’m trying to use an action button to navigate to a slide that contains custom animation. It works the first time but when the slide is revisited later in the presentation the custom animation does not happen again! I’ve tried clicking “rewind when done playing” on the timing tab, but this simply puts the animated object back into the starting position – the animation does not work.
