I and a partner of mine manage a network of only 200 users all on 2 terminal servers. We are finding that some users like to hog more resources than others. For example: we have many users that like to open around 10 internet explorer windows. Not to mention Outlook and other programs in the background. This would not be a problem if our users were local but they all work terminal and this makes a hell-of-a-problem.
I’d like to see a Group Policy that would enable a predefined number of running instances on a selectable .exe basis would be very useful for our organization,
To be able to list “C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe”, Only allow “1” per user.
(limit these users to tabbed browsing only)
To be able to list “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE”, Only allow “3” per user.
This would be great on allowing IT to limit how many programs can run at one time.
I would like to know others thoughts on this.
