Retrieving a WIN NT Profile

I have a few Win NT workstations that I have had to remove from my domain and then reinstall back to the domain for various reasons, after this of course NT created new profiles for the users when they logon since I do not have any roaming profiles set. I wanted to try and retrieve these profiles using the User Profiles Tab in Sys Properties and using the copy to function. The only problem I run into is that the profile I am trying to retrieve is listed as account unknown and will not allow me to copy it. Is there a good way to retrieve this profile or is it lost forever?????
