Roaming profiles and printing.

I have a W2K server which has W98 and XP Professional clients.
The W98 clients are controlled by system policies and config.pol
The XP machines say the can’t find the roaming profile and worse still if I load a network printer , using printer wizard next logon the printer has gone.
My main problem is a) how to get the printer to stay at every login and why won’t roaming profiles work , they are directed to a folder on the server to which they have modify rights.
