I am new to robotic tape libraries and I’ve been looking for some good
introductory info. I am not a complete newbie (have just set up a
Spectra T50 and have installed Symantec Backup Exec for Windows
2003 Servers.)
But I am looking for some good resources to learn about media
rotation and scheduling. Like…
– how do typical setups like grandfather/father/son for single tape
drives scale to libraries?
– what are the typical kinds of jobs you need to set up in Backup Exec?
How do you automate inputting and exporting the tapes?
I’ve RTFM (start to finish!) but Symantec has never been good at
tutorials or background info, just lots of terse reference material, and
I cannot get a grasp on where to start.
So… any good pointers anybody? Thanks 🙂
