I’ve acquired the use of a Cisco 2524 router while studying for the CCNA. I’ve established the serial-to-console connection to practice configurations but I’m unable to back up the IOS to my PC. I’ve got the TFTP software but I’m unable to ping myPC from within a Hyperterminal session.(not sure if that’s possible anyway) I configured the Ethernet 0 port and it shows that it’s up and I’m using a crossover cable from that port to my NIC. I know the NIC is good and I’m also able to ping the NIC from a DOS prompt. I can’t ping the Ethernet 0 port from a DOS prompt nor can I Telnet into that port. I’m running Win98 and the NIC has a class B address with a 255.255.0.0 mask specified. The Gateway is that of the Ethernet 0 port. I hope this is enough information to come to a conclusion. Given my current rookie status you can probably understand why I want to have the IOS backed up. Thanks.
