Routing over async dte/dce

by mtg . Updated 18 years, 10 months ago

I have a home lab I’m setting up but I can’t seem to route over my serial connection. I can ping 172.16.3.1 (and 2.1) from the R1 router. I can not ping those addresses from my PC (network 172.21.1.0 connected to the interface 172.21.1.254 via a switch). These are 2 3640 routers (172.16.2.1 is a 2509).

Gateway of last resort is not set

172.16.0.0/30 is subnetted, 2 subnets
C 172.16.2.0 is directly connected, Serial1/3
C 172.16.3.0 is directly connected, Serial1/0
172.21.0.0/24 is subnetted, 1 subnets
C 172.21.1.0 is directly connected, Ethernet0/0
R1#

(note: my pc’s gateway was 172.21.1.254 also and I did a tracert and hit the 172.21.1.254 address but that’s it. The other addresses are directly connected networks so I don’t see the issue. I telnet from R1 to R2 too.)

Thanks
