RS-232 interface

I am able to interface the output of one of the GPS to the PC at 4800 but not at 9600 and 19200 baud rate, whereas the other gps communicates at 4800, 9600 baudrate. That confirms me about the PC ports that they are working. The connections of the connectors are 2, 3 and 5. Do i need to use any other pins so as to get the strings in the terminal of the PC?
