Safe Mode Hanging

I tried to boot my dell Laptop D620 this morning and it just hung at the XP Splash Screen. I than tried to boot into Safe Mode and it hung at Mup.Sys. I have nothing plugged into the laptop as far as USB conncections go. Any suggestions? I want to use recovery console but I don’t have that Admin password and I can’t log on under my name to reset it. Any advice?
