I’m always at odds as to how much I’m worth based on my years of experience and my skillset. I see people with 0 years experience, getting CDN$50K because they were trained in JAVA or the latest in Web-based technology.
When I graduated 12 years ago, my training got me CDN$26.5K. This was a good salary back then, but the salary difference going into the IT industry then as opposed to most other industries, was not as broad as it is today, as I have shown.
So my question is, after 12 yearsof experience without being out of touch with the latest and greatest, how can I judge that I’m being paid what I’m worth? I realize that certain areas of expertise pay more than others, but I feel that 12 years of experience should get me more thanthe CDN$75K that I’m earning now as an employee.
Any comments would be appreciated.
