SAP as a career option

I am having 5+ yrs of experience in Sales in IT & Telecom industry,India.
I am an electronics engineer.

Plz suggest:
– Whether doing SAP in SD or CRM will be of any help?
– what are my future career options?
– Is it helpful for growing my career fourfolds or just a shift of career on a different platform.
– I am already in a middle management level,will this help in elevating my career to upper management.
