SBS Fax Service – why failed faxes print

I’ve setup the SBS Fax Service to store and forward incoming faxes which works as designed. The fax printer is shared and all workstations can send through the SBS Fax Service. We keep a legacy fax machine around for sending paper. When faxes sent via the SBS Fax Service fail to send they are printed on our fax machine. For each send attempt, the SBS Fax Service is set to retrie 4 times, the entire fax is printed, this consumes a lot of toner as well as paper?

Any thoughts would be apprecaited.
