Scanner troubleshooting

I have a Prima scan 2400u used photo suite run windows 98 My warm up light come on I get to scan then when i click scan it say check your cables or power outage which I have and seen nonthing wrong It was listed under my modem so I deleted it and reinstalled it it show up to be installed correct can someone give me some advice Thanks
