scanning over wireless network

I have set up a wireless network and share a HP PhotoSmart 2610 all in one printer. It is connected to the desktop pc by USB, but also connect to the wireless router to share out to the other pcs. When users scan a document over the wireless, they select what computer to scan to on the printer, then click scan on their computer, but the scanner then comes up with a error message “HP imaging device could not initialized”. Scans fine to the desktop. I am wondering if i need to open up some ports on the computers connected by wireless.
