SCSI Cdrom

i am setting up a linux server for practice for students and i am using a donated compaq prosignia 500 that has all scsi drives. i am trying to install linux redhat 7.2 but boot cd does not automatically start i tried a NT server disk and it booted fine. i need to have a boot disk that can load scsi drivers for my cd-rom i followed some directions at www.driverguide.com and i appear to have the right drivers but it isnt assiging the cdrom a drive letter
