scsi/ide hard drives

Can you have an ide and scsi hard drive on the same PC? I’d like to connect a scsi drive onto a machine with an IDE drive in order to search for some missing files…the scsi drive is unbootable and I don’t want to risk overwriting the data. Currently all the other machines have ide drives. Thanks!
