scsi2 vs scsi3

Can I use a combination of scsi2 and scsi3 drives in a proliant 6400? The original config has 2X scsi2. I’m adding 2X scsi 3 and it seems to terminate after the first scsi3 drive no matter what configuration I put them in. Ideas?
