sdram ecc

I have a Dell pentium II/ 233 with a 64 mb sdram with ecc. I would like to install 256 mb without ecc. Will I have any conflicts if I leave the 64 mb sdram with ecc. in the computer and will this ram be used by the computer ? Do I have to take out the 64 mb with ecc ? I am getting different answers from different people. Thank you very much.
