“Second Life”

Despite spending hundreds of hours in front of my computer, and lots of money on newspapers, I heard about Second Life for the first time today.

I was pointed toward the Wikipedia piece about it, and now I understand less than before.

Can some kind person point me somewhere that explains it in language that I can understand (I have a good traditional education)
