Secondary IP Address on Cisco Routers

by igrtt . Updated 24 years, 2 months ago

What are the performance issues/problems with assigning a secondary IP address to the LAN port of Cisco routers (e.g., 2650’s)? Example: on e0 assign primary=145.45.244.1 mask=255.255.255.192 and secondary=145.45.244.65 mask=255.255.255.224; an NTDHCP server is on segment=244.1 and PC’s and network printers are on both segments 244.1 and 244.65. The PC’s talk to host computers on the WAN and to INTERNET websites. Thank you for any info you can supply.
