secure computers

by tracarts . Updated 23 years, 6 months ago

I have a friend who is going through a divorce. Recently her soon to be ex has been turning on her computer and going through the data on it in an effort to find incriminating information. There is nothring really there, but he is putting 2 + 2 and coming up with the gross national product.

He even managed to get into her yahoo account to read the e-mail there. She has the security settings on it set on high, not an automatic login.

How can we protect this computer? She is running Windows 98 second edition. And the computer is not capable of being upgraded to W2K or WinXP. I initially thought of putting on a BIOS password, but am unsure if this is as secure as necessary, and also found that there are plenty of sites to tellhow to hack this security. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thank you
