Securing Apache server in Local computer

Hi,

Looking into installing Apache server package including PHP,… in my computer which is running Windows xp home sp2 for studying purposes (like using and processing Forms…).

My first question is which Apache package is the best?
and the seconde question is that, What do I need to do to prevent any intrusions and attacks other than using a firewall?
