Seeing Computers and/or files over VPN

I have setup a VPN connection. I can connect fine and show an actual connection. I cant see any computers on the connection, which means no files either. Another thing that concerns me is when I connect I lose my internet. Any ideas on why I am having this 2 issues. I can also connect via remote access just fine.
