selecting a the scanner

our company is a small training company , we are expecting an e-book project we dont know which are the hardware and software needed for doing an e-book prj, also i would like to know about the scanners for the e-book project, bec we think that we will be given books as source and we have to take scanned image from it. please help with necessary info.
