Separation of Domains

Can anybody tell me what would be the best way is to separate domains.
situation: One Master domain with resource domains. Company will be sold. Have to create a new domainstructure with a copy of the SAM from the MasterDomain.
At the moment not clear which Domainstructure we will be using.
