Server 2000 generating “j50” errors in system32\wins folder

by publishing . Updated 19 years ago

I am running a small business domain with 10 computers, including a server which uses Windows 2000 server and Active Directory.

Each computer is a member of the domain with all workstation OS’s ranging from Win95 up to WinXP. The XP computer, while on the network, but regardless of its membership on the domain seems to be generating error logs on the server intermittently in the system32\wins folder. These error logs are 1MB each and are generated every few seconds until the hard drive starts filling up. Various attempts to fix have yielded temporary success; DNS and WINS settings changes on the workstation, renaming the workstation, unjoining/rejoining domain, flush/register, etc.

Still the problem persists, sometimes starting again when I unlock the XP workstation in the morning. In minutes, the server C drive is full with errors.

Anyone?
