server 2003

I am running a 3 vlan network at a school. Vlan 1 management, switches and UPS’s. Vlan 8 is admin, teachers, and vlan 16 is students. I am using a /21 mask. The file server (workgroup),is on vlan 8. The students can not see the sever. I can ping the server from vlan 16 but can’t save anything to it because it does not show up on the students laptops (vlan 16)I am able to print across vlans but I can’t see the file server from vlan 16. I don’t think it is a network issue because I can ping between vlans. IP routing is enabled.
