Server 2003 running IIS with .net 1.0

This server has SP2, 2003 with IIS 6.0. The web application has been developed in .net 1.0 and the programmer doesn’t have time to upgrade it to .net 1.1 or 2.0. Since the web app doesn’t work with .net 1.1, I have uninstalled that from the server and installed .net 1.0. The web app works fine until it comes to email. The SMTP part doesn’t want to send email and places them in the queue. I also have registered CDO.DLL which didn’t solve this mystery and may not make a difference. If I drop a test file into the queue folder to test, it is sent. I hope I have given enough info for anyone to provide help. This also may just not work. Any help is appreciated and Thanks in advance
