I am managing a server 2003 network and we recently moved this network into a new building. After moving the server and 8 XP workstations we are having slow login times and at different times the XP WS?s will lose connection with the server. The XP WS will usually need to be restarted to get it to work again. The WS becomes sluggish and unresponsive leaving me to force reboot. Hold power in and restart. This is happening on multiple machines throughout the day. When the WS looses server connection sometimes it will allow me to try to reconnect to the server and will ask for user name and password. When I enter it the connection is fixed but most of the time I must restart.
Information about network
1. All XP WS are SP2 and updated except 2 have not been updated to IE7 for conflict with old QuickBooks version.
2. Server is Server 2003 with all updates. DHCP is disabled to let Cisco Nuvox router handle all dhcp.
3. The server is used mostly as file storage.
What?s different since the move.
1. New in wall wiring. (seems fine when tested)
2. 2 New switches and new 48 port patch panel.
3. 1 New wireless router. DHCP is off in this device
4. 1 Cisco router (provided by nuvox) This is handling DHCP for the entire network.
5. Computers are no longer dynamic (ip) all have satic IP (I was hoping this would fix the connection issue)
6. Added 2 new XP workstations.
