server 2k3 DHCP server say not connected

Hi all, the problem that seems to be keelhauling me is this…

Environment;
Server 2k3 setup as DNS and DHCP with active directory

When I go to the DHCP server, it says “not connected” but when I double click on the server in the right pane it changes to “active” but it still doesnt seem to be working right as some application when trying to login give an error stating default gateway is offline or not configured.
Any ideas all?
