Server and Client software deployment

I work in a school district and recently I have come across a ton of software that has a server and client piece. The server piece you install on the server side and the client piece you install on each of the workstations.

Would anyone out there be using a free software that could capture all the changes made to the machine when I install the client. What I am trying to do is capture all the changes made to one machine and try to deploy it to all the other machines.

On a regular basis an image is build in the begining of the school year and deployed to all the machines. However if a request is placed after this deployment it gets very interesting… to touch 700 to 800 machines….
