Server file synchonization

by optronix_quebec . Updated 18 years, 9 months ago

Hi

I currently have an offline folder setup through VPN for laptop users.

This setup is very awkard for the people on the road as they’re not very computer literate and the messages of the VPN not being able to connect, the on and off nature of their network environement and the general spotiness of windows offline files make this setup much less practical than originally planned.

The goal of this setup is to backup their whole documents folder to the server (aka keep it in sync) and to make sure they have the latest version of things such as price lists as soon as it is changed on the server (given they have an active internet connection at the time obviously).

Is there any way to do this by bypassing the VPN and offline files approach completely ? I do have the ability of setting up a web server (must use port 443 – https) for this specific purpose on our already running server. The important thing is that this is as seemless as possible and without user intervention.

Thanks.
