Server Problems

Hi all, im new to this so here goes. We are in the process of making a server using 2k3. It is all set up, the PC (Client) is using Windows XP. However, the PC cannot connect to the domain. So when we try to ping the server from the PC it does not work, it cannot see it. But the connection is fine as I can ping the PC from my Server.

I have also noticed that before the server has fully booted up i can ping it and i see it. Could this be to do with some of the services that are running?
