I am trying to add Remote access/VPN server role to my server running windows server 2003. The problem I keep having is that it claims that the “Windows Firewall/ICS” service is running when in fact i have turned it off for this installation.
The Error Reads: “The Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing service is enabled for CPRCD00. Click Start, click Administrative Tools, click Services, and search for the windows firewall/Internet connection sharing service. Make sure that the status for this service is stopped and that the startup type is disabled.”
When I disabled the service on startup that error resolved but now when trying to start the routing and remote access service on CPRCD00 I recieve the error message “An error occurred while trying to start the Routing and Remote Access service on CPRCD00 The service has returned a service specific error code. (8007042a)
