Service pack questions

I copied the patch exe from a cd mounted volume to the root of the sys volume. I downd the server went to th nwserver directory and typed the name of the executable. It extracted to a subdirectory under the nwserver directory. I restarted the server and loaded nwconfig. Product other and set path to sys:. Error message cannot find netmain.ils or path incorrect. Went to console one and did not see directory under sys: volume. In Nwconfig can I set path to c:\nwserver\subdirectory?
