Setting folder view to list

Does anyone know of a way to set the default folder options for a server folder to display as list. We have a folder with a large manual that is broken into a dozen or more subfolders. I have received a request to set the default view for endusers to list. The only way that I know to do that at the present time is to visit each desktop and set that individually. With 158 desktops that does not seem practical. Is there a way to add this parameter to the login script or control it via a gpo on Server2003 ?
